Transnetyx is seeking a full-time Laboratory Manager to join our lab team in Culver City, California. You are responsible for analyzing results and managing the laboratory to perform and provide results for complex laboratory tests, exercising independent judgment and responsibility. Analyzes tests to include specialized laboratory tests and analyses in one or more areas of laboratory such as molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, and chemical and morphological examinations to obtain data for test services that Laragen provides. Performs and manages library preparation for next generation sequencing (NGS). Contributes to the laboratory’s research and development. The Role

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

· Provides functional direction and guidance as assigned by the Laboratory Director/General Manager.

· Performs NGS library preparation and sequencing on both Illumina and Nanopore platforms

· Monitors data quality and implements troubleshooting measures when necessary to maintain high quality data output.

· Validates assay tests and contributes to improvements within the laboratory’s research and development.

· Utilizes bioinformatics platforms on Linux and Basespace for NGS data quality control and analysis

· Resolves technical problems that arise in the laboratory and ensure that remedial actions are taken when needed.

· Reports any quality issues or deviations to the General Manager in a timely manner.

· Coordinates and supports periodic internal as well as external audits and implements appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

· Prepare, QC, and maintain records for all critical reagents within the lab.

· Provides training to new employees in the procedures within the functional area to which the technician is assigned.

· Creates SOPs for new assays and tests and ensures they are being followed in the laboratory.

· Assists with other departmental demands as needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

EDUCATION::

· A Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or equivalent experience. Master's degree is strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

· Four years training/experience in highly complex testing in the respective specialties for which they are responsible.

· Experience with next generation sequencing platforms

· Understanding of fundamental scientific principles underlying the laboratory tests.

· Proficient in the use of basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).

· Working knowledge of GLP and OSHA regulations and requirements.

· Analysis and interpretation of experimental data using various data analysis software and/or applying quantitative methods.

· Experience with microbiology techniques such as next generation sequencing, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, sequence analysis, RT-PCR, Nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA).

· Critical thinking skills in experimental design and data interpretation.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:

· Must have the ability to react quickly and creatively in order to understand and solve complex problems using strong time management, organizational, prioritization, analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.

· Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in creating clear and concise documentation.

· Strong attention to detail required.

· Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work both independently and cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and third parties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands include walking, standing up to 8 hours, bending, lifting, stooping, hearing, climbing steps/ladders, reaching, grasping, kneeling. Repetitive motions or performing other light physical exertion on an occasional basis. Ability to lift up to 25

pounds including working over shoulders. Ability to multitask. Ability to stay focused for an extended amount of time.
