Description

Transnetyx is seeking a full-time Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. You are responsible for the full-cycle accounts payable function within the organization. Your primary role will be to ensure that all vendor invoices and expenses are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. You will work closely with the finance team, vendors, and internal departments to streamline processes, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The role of an Accounts Payable Specialist is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of financial transactions within an organization and is vital to the overall financial health and success of the company. The Role

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

  • Invoice Processing: Manages the PO initiation, receiving, review, coding, approval and invoice matching process.
  • Vendor Management: Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors, resolves any discrepancies or issues and understand/negotiate payment terms and discounts. Prepares 1099s.
  • Payment Processing: Oversees the preparation and distribution of payments, including checks, wires, and ACH payments. Ensures accuracy and compliance with payment terms.
  • Expense Reporting: Reviews employee OOP expense and company credit card transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper documentation.
  • Month-end Closing: Assists in month-end closing activities, including reconciling accounts payable transactions, preparing accruals, and generating reports for management.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluates and improves accounts payable processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Implements best practices and automation where applicable.
  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable functions.
  • Reporting: Prepares and analyzes accounts payable reports and metrics, providing insights to management on vendor spending, payment trends, and other relevant data.
  • Audit Support: Coordinates and supports external audits related to accounts payable, providing documentation and assistance as needed.
  • Tax Support: Assists with sales and property tax filings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in an accounts payable or accounting role.

Additional Skills/ Competencies:

  • Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Must exhibit excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Must have knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GAAP, SOX) pertaining to accounts payable processes.

Physical Demands:

This position may experience prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and work on a computer. Other physical demands may include but are not limited to walking, standing, stooping, reaching. And may lift up to 15lbs at times.
