Full job description

Overview
The ASB Injection Stretch Blow Molding Process Technician is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing full machine changeovers, including mold, preform, and downstream production equipment. This role requires ownership of multi-day tool changeovers, ensuring equipment is set up safely, efficiently, and capable of producing high-quality products upon startup.

Responsibilities

  • · Lead full set-up and changeover of the ASB 70DPH injection stretch blow molding machine, including removal and installation of molds, preform tooling, and associated components

· Plan and execute multi-day tool changeovers (1–2 days), ensuring all mechanical, thermal, and process systems are properly configured prior to startup

· Set up and optimize all stages of the injection stretch blow molding process, including preform molding, conditioning, stretch/blow parameters, and part handling systems

· Perform machine start-up, process validation, and first article verification to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements

· Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, and process-related issues specific to stretch blow molding equipment

· Document and maintain set-up parameters, tooling configurations, and process conditions to ensure repeatability and continuous improvement of changeover times

· Work closely with tooling, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to support mold qualifications, new product introductions, and process improvements

· Participate in R&D and validation runs, providing technical input on machine performance, tooling function, and process capability

· Ensure all safety procedures are followed during set-ups, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices during extended machine access

· Inspect and verify condition of molds, tooling, and machine components during changeovers; communicate any maintenance or repair needs

· Perform all required cleaning activities in accordance with established cleaning and contamination control protocols

· Set up and verify all downstream equipment associated with the ASB process, including inspection systems, conveying, trimming, and packaging equipment, ensuring full line readiness prior to production start

· Ensure all manufacturing procedures, ISO 9001 documentation requirements, work instructions, and SOPs are followed and kept up to date, including proper recording of process parameters, lot traceability, and equipment readiness

· Support production operations following completion of set-ups, including operating equipment, monitoring process performance, and filling critical roles as needed between changeovers

· Maintain and ensure completion of all required maintenance records and preventative maintenance activities for the ASB 70DPH and associated equipment

· Monitor equipment condition and performance, ensuring all routine inspections and checks are completed to keep the machine operating safely, reliably, and within specified parameters

· Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to address equipment issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to production schedules

Essential Competencies:

· Experience with injection stretch blow molding processes (preform, conditioning, stretch/blow)

· Ability to perform complex, multi-day equipment changeovers with high attention to detail

· Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills on rotary, multi-station equipment, and Hot Runner Systems

· Understanding of thermal process control and material behavior during molding

· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and tooling layouts

· Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems and documentation requirements

· Working knowledge of cleanroom practices and contamination control principles

· Experience with high-purity or life sciences manufacturing environments a plus

· High level of ownership and accountability for equipment performance and readiness

· Patience and persistence when working through long, complex setups and troubleshooting

· Strong attention to detail in both mechanical work and documentation

· Ability to remain focused and disciplined during extended setup activities

· Willingness to follow structured procedures in regulated environments without cutting corners
