Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Marketing will lead the strategic and executional marketing efforts for Zealand Pharma's growing metabolic health portfolio in the U.S. This leader will collaborate closely with our partner, Genentech, to develop and implement a class-leading brand strategy that disrupts, differentiates and effectively engages key stakeholders—consumers, healthcare professionals, and payers. The aim is to ensure a class leading launch that maximizes franchise value and redefines the obesity journey in the rapidly evolving and expansive obesity therapeutic area. Responsibilities include market shaping, launch planning, and leading a cross-functional team to drive market penetration and sustainable growth. The Senior Director will serve as the US Franchise champion both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the US marketing function for the Obesity Franchise.
• Represent Zealand Pharma in the Genentech partnership, employing a "One Team" approach.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy in collaboration with cross-functional partners to drive disruption and ensure a successful launch.
• Partner with Genentech to lead brand and franchise development for current and future metabolic products across multiple indications and geographies.
• Shape U.S. go-to-market strategies with internal stakeholders (e.g., Medical Affairs) and Genentech, ensuring message alignment, competitive differentiation, and lifecycle management.
• Develop a market strategy with Medical Affairs and Genentech to craft a compelling commercial narrative in a competitive market.
• Conduct competitive landscape analyses, market segmentation, and engage with key opinion leaders to identify growth opportunities and unmet needs.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive pre-commercial positioning and clear differentiation.
• Identify opportunities to disrupt and activate the consumer segment.
• Develop innovative go-to-market strategies with Genentech to maximize the obesity franchise.
• Build and mentor a high-performing marketing organization rooted in scientific credibility and creative excellence.
• Champion collaboration across regulatory, clinical, operations, and medical teams to deliver integrated strategies.
• Serve as an influential voice within executive leadership, guiding corporate strategy through market insights.
• Build relationships with external partners, including healthcare professionals, policy-makers, scientific leaders, consumer platform partners, and payers.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team while driving succession planning and talent development.
Your Profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of commercial experience in biotech/pharma, including 5+ years in senior marketing leadership roles.
• Proven success in launching products within primary care and specialty markets (preferably metabolic health, endocrinology, or related areas).
• Strong partnership experience with larger pharmaceutical companies.
• Extensive understanding of U.S. market dynamics, including consumer behavior and market access.
• Ability to translate complex science into impactful messaging that drives behavior change.
• Strong analytical, financial, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and influence skills across functions and partner organizations.
