The OpenClinica Product Owner II (PO) develops user stories and acceptance criteria for our products. The PO prioritizes product development activities (the product backlog), ensures that product design and the product backlog reflect the vision and strategy of the company, as articulated by executive management, and helps stakeholders understand the reasoning for current priorities while giving them sufficient input into the backlog. The PO also helps establish expectations and deliver product on-time, in concert with the Product and Platform team.
Location: 100% Remote in the U.S.

What You Will Do:

Author product vision statements, user stories, and requirements (acceptance criteria) based on customer input and company strategy.

Communicate the vision, goals, and expectations of the product to all stakeholders.

Describe the needs of stakeholders in the form of Minimally Releasable Features (MRFs) and user stories with appropriate acceptance criteria.

Maintain a prioritized product backlog that reflects the product vision and incorporates the needs of stakeholders.

Communicate key deliverables and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.

Lead motivated and highly productive scrum teams.

Ensure overall product design and backlog priorities produce a high-quality platform with an intuitive, consistent user experience.

Provoke the creation of innovative product, service, and technology offerings that benefit customers and differentiate the company’s position from competition.

Develop and maintain high-quality, easy-to-understand user documentation including interface text, tutorials, online help, and user guides

With other product owners and engineering leadership, manage and ensure the success of key activities:

MRF and User Story development
-
Backlog prioritization
-
Release planning
-
Regular development product demonstrations
-
Software Release (non-technical aspects)

With Technical Writers, UX, and other Product Owners, author user and technical documentation including interface text, tutorials, online help, and user guides

Work with management to assess and continuously improve the above processes.

Gather stakeholder input throughout the design and development process.

Ensure MRFs and stories are well-described in the issue tracking system, so as to be easily understandable to stakeholders and the development team, especially:

Describe new functionality as user stories with sufficient detail and clarity for a conversation among stakeholders, developers, and quality engineers.

Characterize reported defects with sufficient detail to reproduce, assess risk, prioritize the defect, and implement a fix.

Define scope of user stories and bug fixes by writing clear acceptance criteria.

Determine where additional specifications (diagrams, wireframes, mockups, etc.) are required and work with team members to develop them.

Ensure each backlog item’s summary and scope is current and useful.

Communicate the backlog and priorities and how they align with product strategy to company stakeholders and customers.

Communicate the contents of releases; highlight high-impact changes to stakeholders.
Components to Success and Qualifications:

Experience in Product Management or Development

Experience in Agile/Scrum Environments

Experience in a Customer-Facing Role

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly

Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively

Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage challenges and provide effective solutions

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously

Familiarity with CRM software and customer success tools

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a customer-centric mindset
Nice to Have:

Experience in a SaaS role within the life-science industry.

Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
