Position Overview:

The Regulatory Counsel plays a critical role in ensuring BCM One’s legal and regulatory compliance across multiple international jurisdictions.

Based in London and part of the Global Legal Regulatory Team, this role supports the business by providing strategic legal guidance, monitoring regulatory developments, and ensuring that BCM One's products and operations align with applicable laws. The position also contributes to global initiatives by negotiating service agreements, supporting regulatory projects, and maintaining up-to-date compliance processes and documentation—enabling seamless, compliant communications worldwide.

The position is hands-on, requiring the attorney to interpret and apply laws across multiple jurisdictions, support regulatory filings, oversee compliance audits, and contribute to the company’s strategy for addressing policy developments in telecommunications and emerging technologies.

Work Locations:

Hybrid, based out of our London office. Our team is typically in office 3 days per week with 2 days WFH. This position must live and be authorized to work in the United Kingdom; it is not eligible for relocation or sponsorship.

Travel:

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10–15% expected).

What You Will Do:

  • Regulatory Compliance & Advisory
    • Advise company on all relevant international telecommunications regulations, policies, procedures and changes.
    • Ensure compliance with licensing, reporting, and registration requirements in all assigned countries.
    • Provide legal interpretation of changes to telecom, broadband, VoIP, and cloud communication regulations.
    • Management of external counsel where support is required.
  • Regulatory Filings & Documentation
    • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of regulatory submissions, license renewals, and required compliance reports in assigned countries.
    • Maintain internal tracking of regulatory authorizations, renewals, and obligations in assigned countries.
  • Policy & Risk Management
    • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory changes; prepare summaries and recommendations for internal stakeholders.
    • Assess regulatory risks associated with business activities, contracts, and new market entry.
    • Support internal audits and external regulatory inquiries.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Collaborate with compliance, privacy, security, engineering, and product teams to ensure regulatory requirements are incorporated into business operations.
    • Advise on data protection, cross-border data transfers, and other telecom-related legal obligations.
  • External Representation
    • Represent the company before regulatory bodies, industry groups, and in policy consultations.
    • Support advocacy and engagement with external stakeholders on regulatory issues relevant to telecommunications.
    • Review and negotiate supplier agreements in assigned countries.

Key Deliverables/Results:

  • Maintenance of applicable regulations in assigned countries
  • Maintenance of current reseller obligations in assigned countries
  • Timely, comprehensive and adequate support to business units on projects with regulatory impact, and go to market initiatives

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Law required.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in regulatory law, with exposure to both international frameworks. Telecommunications, SaaS, and related industries strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of UK & EU regulatory frameworks, laws and rules.
  • Familiarity with telecom infrastructure and services, including broadband, VoIP and cloud communications is ideal.
  • Knowledge of related data privacy regulations such as GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and other cross-border compliance standards.
  • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including with non-legal stakeholders.
  • Prior in-house or law firm experience supporting global telecommunications clients preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across time zones.
